DECORATED Chimanimani traditional leader, Chief Raymond Saurombe, on 02 January 2023, threw a new year party for Chimanimani’s community radio station, Chimanimani FM.

According to Chimanimani FM’s station manager, Mr Themba Gata, the chief’s gesture is an indicator of how the radio station is being supported by district stakeholders.

Speaker after speaker threw weight on the need for Chimanimani FM to keep in existence.

Radio personnel took the chance to ask the district leadership to consider incorporating Chimanimani FM presenters, disc jockeys, news crew and other support staff in government projects such as the provision of agricultural inputs, land and other income generating projects that would empower the radio volunteers.

Mrs Saurombe thanked the radio personnel for keep the radio project alive. She went further to congratulate them for volunteering to help the community than loiter around and engage in illegal activities such as drug abuse, stealing and sexual indecency.
Zimbabwe Republic Police applauded the radio station for making it easier for the police to reach out to far away places in it’s crime awareness campaign.

Ward 15 chairperson, George Peter Tsandukwa, encouraged all people to donate towards the radio station. He also donated some money towards the subsistence of the radio station.

Chimanimani District Development Coordinator (DDC) Joseph Manyurapasi was humbled by Chief Saurombe’s gesture for throwing the party and challenged other stakeholders to support the radio station in whatever means possible. He vowed never to let Chimanimani FM collapse.
