In his opening remarks, one of the organisers, music producer Mike Chimwero, popularly known as Super Mikela said that the event aims at offering psychosocial support to the children of Chimanimani.

“This junior session was introduced in 2019 after Chimanimani was hit by devastating Tropical Cyclone Idai. We saw the need to occupy children so that they don’t keep thinking about the horror of cyclone Idai.
