Chipinge hit-and-run victim still unidentified, unclaimed

POLICE in Chipinge are looking for relatives of an unidentified man who was killed in a hit-and-run accident which happened along Birchenough-Mt Selinda Highway last month. The man is unidentified and has not been claimed since then.

Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the development.

“On September 12, 2023 at 63km peg along Birchenough-Mt Selinda road, the deceased who was wearing a blue T-shirt, grey and white striped shirt, black shorts and a grey trouser was hit to death by an unknown vehicle.

“A report was made to the police who attended the scene. Searches were made and [the police] failed to locate his identification particulars. Chipinge Traffic [Police] is holding the unknown deceased body which is placed at Chipinge District Hospital Mortuary,” he said.

Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said the police advise the general public to be in possession of their identity particulars whenever they are travelling away from their homes. He said the police also warn the public to take care of mentally challenged persons.

In unrelated incident that happened in Mambodza village under Chief Ndima in Chimanimani, relatives of Jackson Koteni are looking for him as he was report missing on June 10, 2013 at around 0600 hours.

Circumstances are that the missing person who was wearing a grey trousers, navy blue jersey and navy blue cap went missing at home. A report was made to the police who attended the scene. Searches were made and missing person was not found.

Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said the police advise the general public to communicate when they are leaving their homes.
