The minister who was represented by her deputy, Hon Edgar Moyo, commissioned a 1 x 2 classroom block at Mayfield Secondary School in Chipinge which was constructed with aid from Constituency Development Fund.

The Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is a fund set aside by government, which is given to all members of parliament to support and initiate development programs and projects in their constituencies.

In a speech read on her behalf by Hon Moyo, Dr Ndlovu said:

“Mayfield Secondary School and its community is highly indebted to CDF and Chipinge Central Constituency Member of Parliament.

“Using CDF funds, the office of the Member of Parliament, Hon Raymond Machingura bought and donated to Mayfield Secondary School all materials needed for the construction of the 1 x 2 classroom block.

The classroom block is not only an invaluable asset to the school but it enhances learning for the pupils in the school. The community on its part, through the kraal head sold gum trees to compliment SDC funds and the construction work was completed.

“Ladies and gentleman, this school started in 2017, operating as a satellite school of Mafumise High School. It currently has Forms One to four and still needs more shelter, electricity and internet connectivity to meet the demands of the competence based curriculum.

“Appreciation goes to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education for its efforts to make sure all pupils get access to quality education. Mayfield Secondary School is not left out.”

In 2022, Mayfield Secondary School had a total enrolment of 192, up from 80 pupils who opened the school in 2017.
