LEADING private learning centre group, Herentals Group of Colleges and Schools, descended onto the grassroots in Chipinge to promote sport. The institution held a sports gala that was held at Gaza Primary School in Chipinge on 5 November 2022.
Herentals Group has two top flight soccer teams in Zimbabwe. The first is the men’s team, Herentals FC which is in the Premier Soccer League. The second one is the women’s outfit, Herentals Queens FC which is in Zimbabwe Women’s Football League.
Speaking on the sidelines of the gala, the school for Herentals Chipinge, Tinashe Muneta said that the gala aimed at promoting talent in primary schools.
“We are promoting talent in primary schools. This is also our social corporate responsibility to promote talent at grassroots level. Learners are battling it out in soccer, netball and volleyball.
“We are helping the young children to be occupied with sport and avoid engaging in social ills such as drug abuse.
“As Chipinge, we want to thank the Chief Executive Officer for Herentals, Dr Innocent Benza for giving us this opportunity to support our learners through this sports gala,” she said.
