Lenso, a versatile Tsonga/Xangani artiste

BORN Lenard Hlungweni in cultural rich area of Chikombedzi in Chiredzi South, Lenso, whose stage nickname is derived from his first, is making a mark in the local music industry following the release of his new album last month.

The youthful artistes who sings in Tsonga (Xangani) and Shona says that the album is being well received by his fans as per all his other songs.

“I recently released a new album last month which is making waves in the musical circles and I very much appreciate the constructive criticism and feedback from my fans which helps me to grow,” said Lenso.

Having started his music journey in 2014, Lenso now boasts of 28 songs to his name produced by King Jakales with hit a song ‘Bacos Ayilungangi’ which he says made waves when it was released.

“I am not only a Sungura artiste but I also double in Jiti as well as play several instruments which include bass guitar, rhythm guitar, lead guitar as well as drums,” said Lenso.

The versatility of Lenso extends to his capacity to speak several languages which include Tsonga (Xangani), Venda and Shona, an advantage he extends in composing his songs which has made him different from other artists.
