WORLD Wetlands Day commemorations for Manicaland Province shall be held this week.
In a memo addressed to stakeholders by Manicaland Provincial Environmental Manager, K. Chitotombe, and seen by this publication, the programme includes delegates touring of Cecil Kopje wetlands.
“World Wetlands Day is celebrated every year on the 2nd of February to reaffirm the protection and love for wetlands, which are the small environments of plants and organisms found within water bodies that bring about ecological health in abundance to not only water bodies but environments as whole. This year’s event is celebrated under the theme: “It’s time for Wetlands Restoration” which highlight the urgent need to prioritize wetland restoration and rehabilitation.
“The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) is therefore inviting you to attend the commemoration to be held on the 15th of February 2023 at Mutare Boys High School, at 10.00am. The event will include a tour of Cecil Kopje wetland,” read the memo.
