A dark cloud has fallen upon Chipinge’s arts fraternity following the death of a celebrated sungura musician and producer, Clever “Mapower” Maposa. He died this afternoon after a short illness.
Mapower, who hailed from Sakuinje in Chipinge, was very popular in South Africa where he was based in Brits in the North West province. His uncle, Simoyi Mhlanga, who is also a renowned sungura musician based in Chipinge confirmed Mapower’s death.
