EASTERN Region Division 1 Netball League roars into life this week. The competitions shall begin with round 1 of bubbles that are going to take place this Sunday.

Speaking to this publication, the Chairperson of Chipinge District Netball, Mr Win Bhila revealed that the bubbles shall be held in four clusters of Manicaland.

“It’s first time in Chipinge to have Division 1 netball sport in Chipinge. Women sport is advancing in our district and at a better level. We are happy to have the first round of netball bubbles starting this week on Sunday (April 30).

“A bubble is where grouped teams play their games on the same day and at the same venue. We will then rotate to each’s home ground. This is made to cut travelling costs that a team might incur if it travels each week to fulfill fixtures.

“Teams in Buhera shall meet at Murambinda B Primary School as those in Nyanga battle it out at Bumhira High School. Chimanimani teams shall clash at Chimanimani High School and those in Chipinge at Chipinge Stadium,” he said.

Mr Bhila further outlined that each cluster has five teams with Chipinge boasting of Eastern Queens, Checheche United, Destiny Queens, Nyanyadzi Queens and Vhiriri Stars. Chimanimani has Ngangu Queens, Rusitu Queens, Buffaloes, Santa Queens and Bumba Queens.

Nyanga Stars, Nyamaropa Queens, Metallion Queens, Ratings and Gatsi Queens make up those in Nyanga as Flying Queens, Ngwebu Royal Queens, Might Queens, Expandable Angel and King’s Daughter constitute those of Buhera.
