NSSA caters for the Persons with Disabilities

NATIONAL Social Security Authority (NSSA) has availed packages that are inclusive of Persons with Disabilities. This was revealed during Chipinge Agricultural Show which took place from 14-16 September 2023.

One official manning NSSA stand at the show revealed that the package applies to people who got injured at work.

“We have a package where NSSA releases a lump sum amount for a worker who gets a permanent disability of below 30 percentage. For one who attains above 30 percent, s/he gets a monthly pension.

“There is Constant Attendance Allowance (CAA) given to person who aids a paraplegic, quadraplegic or a visually impaired person. This allowance is paid the the aide.

“NSSA also constructs houses and abulition (toilets) for paralegic and quadraplegic.

“NSSA provides courses for those who are not seriously disabled. They attain courses such as carpentry, poultry, leather craft and welding,” he said.

NSSA is a tripatite board formed by the government of Zimbabwe to provide social security scheme to the Zimbabwean workforce.

Curently the organisation is running the pension and other benefit scheme and accident prevention and compensation scheme where all Zimbabwean workforce employed excluding domestic and government workers are compensated in the event of accident at work.

Benefits include medical fund where all medical costs are covered at Association of Healthcare Funders Zimbabwe (AFHOZ) rates. Peridocal payments which represent refund of wages when the worker was offduty due to injury are also paid.
