IN what seems to be reference to some soccer referees awarding dubious penalties to a number of teams, a coach with Chimanimani based Rusitu Tigers which plays in the ZIFA Eastern Region Division 1 Soccer League has sensationally claimed that there is a lot of drama happening in the eastern region.

Coach Gift Hanyana made the claim after his side was beaten 3-2 by Bikita Minerals in a match that was played at Bikita Stadium on 2 July this year. The two teams which played equally the same only separated when the Lithium Boys, as Bikita Minerals is affectionately known, was awarded a penalty.

Commenting after the match, Rusitus Hanyana said, “The game was good. Our guys were playing very well but we conceded a penalty which is dubious or not, the referee known better.

“The game was going well but I am doubting something. Maybe it is now a drama in this [Eastern] region. I cannot mention the drama now,” he said.

Bikita Minerals assistant coach, Leeroy Chivangu in his post match comment showered praises for his side.

“The win is good for us especially on the log. The game was very tough since we played against a very good side. I was to clap hands for my team which came out as winners. We shall play Midway in Rusape in our next assignment,” he said.
