EXPANSION of Tongogara Primary School in Chipinge is underway. This was revealed by Tongogara Refugee Camp Administrator, Mr Johannes Mhlanga yesterday.
According to Mr Mhlanga, the school has a total enrolment of 2 273 learners making it the most populated primary learning institution in Manicaland Province.
The expansion shall create a decent and conducive learning environment. Teachers are finding it difficulty to teach a class of more than 50 pupils. Even the pupils themselves are finding it a challenge to learn in such an environment.
The new classroom blocks which are being erected at Early Childhood Development Centre are a Chipinge Rural District Council project with funding from the Government of Zimbabwe.
“Tongogara Primary School is one the biggest schools in Zimbabwe which has two School Deputy Heads. The idea behind the expansion of is to create an Infant School Centre which shall cater for ECD A up to Grade 2. Henceforth, Junior School from Grade 3 to Grade 7 shall continue with their studies at the main premises,” said Mr Mhlanga.
The development is being spearheaded through the National Transformation Agenda in terms of education to ensure that quality education is perfectly delivered and the mantra which ensures that everyone is included in any process of national sustainable development.
A lot of developments are taking place in Tongogara Refugee Camp owing to the Camp Administrator’s mission of “The Tongogara we want.”
