Man of the match Every “Kenzo” Mwakanya

IT was all smiles last Sunday when Chimanimani based side; Rusitu Tigers FC registered its first win of the season. It won 1-0 against Buffaloes FC of Mutare in a Match Day 3 in the Eastern Region Soccer League Division 1 encounter that was played at Chirombo Stadium, Kopa (Rusitu) in Chimanimani.

Commenting after the match, Rusitu Tigers coach, Gift Hanyana, admitted that Buffaloes had given them a torrid moment but their hard fight brought them the much desired win.

“The game against Buffaloes was a tight one. Our loss to Grayham in the previous week made us prepare more than before for the Buffaloes match.

“As underdogs, we finally got a win. We thank our goal keeper (Mark Makayama) who stopped a chance that Buffaloes had found in the dying minutes of the game. We shall keep fighting till the end of the season,” he said.

Rusitu Tigers’ goal came from striker Every Kenzo Mwakanya who automatically became man of the match.

Today, the team is facing another strong side, Surrey FC at Surrey Stadium in Marondera. The last Sunday win has boosted a lot of morale in the camp that Tigers are vying for a second win.
